Zach Sky got his start making movies in high school filming his friends ride Bmx in his hometown of Boston, MA. In 2006 he moved to NYC to study psychology at the New School University and has stayed there ever since.
After graduating in 2010 with a BA in psychology, he decided to pursue his love for movies in full by taking a job with a documentary production company as their full time camera operator on retainer. During this period he shot for 3 feature length documentaries that were acquired by Netflix and PBS, and showed at multiple major international film festivals. Today he shoots for clients like A24, Steven Soderbergh, Nike, Adidas, Puma, Nordstrom, and DKNY.
Zach’s personal work is deeply influenced by his roots in Bmx and documentary filmmaking, with an emphasis on movement, action and intimacy with his subjects before the lens. He loves to collaborate with musicians and artists, and pushes his craft continuously through his work on music videos, narrative projects, and commercials.
